Understanding the Book of Job

Then Satan answered the LORD, and said,
Doth Job fear God for nought?
Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house,
and about all that he hath on every side?
thou hast blessed the work of his hands,
and his substance is increased in the land.
But put forth Thine hand now, and touch all that he hath,
and he will curse thee to thy face
.

And the LORD said unto Satan,
Behold, all that he hath is in thy power;
only upon himself put not forth thine hand.

And Satan answered the LORD, and said,
Skin for skin
yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.
But put forth Thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh,
and he will curse Thee to Thy face.

And the LORD said unto Satan,
Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.
Job 9-12/2:4-6
Q: How bad was Job's Physical Condition?
A: Now when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept;
Job 2:11,12
Q: What had happened to Job?
A: So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown. And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes.
Job 2:7,8
also--
*And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword;
*While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them;
*While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword;
*While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house: And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
Job 1:14,15,16,1718,19

1) Job's 3 friends blamed Job. They thought he ticked off God......and by extension they were Blaming God....
Eliphaz- Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and
thou hast strengthened the feeble knees. But now it is come upon
thee,
and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled. Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off?

Job 4:4,5,7
Bildad- Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:
Job 8:20
Zophar- If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.
Job 11:14

2) Jobs servants and wife thought it was God's doing......
Servants- The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned
up the sheep.

Job 1:6
Wife- And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes. Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.
Job 2:8,9

***But it was Lucifer who was behind it all......
So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD,
and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.
Job 2:7

SUMMARY of Scripture:
Touching the Almighty, we cannot find Him out:
He is excellent in power, and in judgment,
and in plenty of justice:
He will not afflict.
Job 37:23
1) We bring evil upon ourselves by our choices: Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Galatians 6:7 or
2) Lucifer does: So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job.
Job 2:7
Our Attitude should be that of Job:
---Though He slay me,
yet will I trust in Him:
Job 13:15
---Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer Thee?
I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.
Job 40:4
---For I know that my Redeemer liveth,
and that He shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
Job 19:25

Job's Reward: And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends:
---also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.
---So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she donkeys.
---He had also seven sons and three daughters.
And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Kerenhappuch.
-*-And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.
---After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, even four generations.
Job 42:10,12-16

In Short--EVIDENCE FOR GOD:
"Our conscience, allowing people to realize that some of what we observe around us—things like sorrow, suffering, and deathare not as they ought to be
---This suggests a standard of right and wrong,
---of good and evil,
---and hints that it originated from Someone other than us."

Leviathan
Leviathan: Symbol of God's Enemy
The Conversation begins with God laying out the 6 days of Creation Week in Order--Identifying Himself as Creator:
Day 1: God created light and separated it from darkness, naming it "day" and "night" (Genesis 1:3-5)
Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof... Job 38:19
Day 2: God created the sky and gathered the waters under the sky, separating them from the waters above (Genesis 1:6-8)
Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is;.Job 38:25,26
Day 3: God created dry land, naming it "land" and the gathered waters "seas" (Genesis 1:9-10)
To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth? Job 38:27
Day 4: God created the sun, moon, and stars, establishing a pattern for time (Genesis 1:14-19)
Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? Job 38:31
Day 5: God created fish, birds (Genesis 1:20-30)
Who provideth for the raven his food? Job 38:41
Day 6: God created humans in His image, male and female, and blessed them to rule over all living creatures, and created mammals (Genesis 1:26-31)
Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve? Job 39:1

Leviathan:
 Symbol of God's Enemy
Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook?
or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?
Job 41:1

Questions on Leviathan:
Canst thou put an hook into his nose?
or bore his jaw through with a thorn?
Will he make many supplications unto thee?
will he speak soft words unto thee?
Will he make a covenant with thee?
wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?
Job 41:2-4

Description of Leviathan:
Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out. Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron. His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.
Job 41:19-21

Clue to Symbolism of Leviathan:
He beholdeth all high things:
he is a king over all the children of pride.
Job 41:34

3 names for Leviathan:
In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea. Isaiah 27:1

Serpent Dragon = And the great dragon was cast out,
that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan
which deceiveth the whole world...

Q: What do waters represent?
A: And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.
Revelation 17:15

And it shall come to pass in that day,
that the great trumpet shall be blown,
--and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria(Israel was in captivity in Assyria, in the end Christians are in spiritual Babylon)
--and the outcasts in the land of Egypt(spiritual Egypt is a symbol for the Lost Secular World)
--and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem.
Isaiah 27:13

God says to Job about Leviathan: Any hope of capturing him proves false. Does a person not collapse at the very sight of him? Job 41:9 CSB
Job says to God: I know that Thou canst do every thing....
Job 42:2
